Things have moved on!

Well we had a fabulous month in France over the summer. No complaints, in fact it made us more determined to get going as soon as we can.

We spent a couple of weekends getting the house ready for viewings, and it went on the market in the middle of September. A week later we had a buyer lined up who wanted to pay over the asking price to secure it. Superb! Fingers crossed it goes through OK.

So we're soon to be homeless and are making frantic plans about where we're going to live for the next couple of months. As much as we'd like to take off immediately, there doesn't seem a lot of point going in the middle of winter!

We now plan to be away for two years, but we'll be coming back to the UK each Christmas, and for weddings etc.

We've still to decide where to go exactly! We have a pile of guide books to read and are doing a lot of research at the moment. If we go in February next year we're trying to work out whether to head south, or to head north and reach Norway and Finland for the height of the summer there.

Still plenty of time to decide - first thing's first - we need to pack the house up and put it into storage!

So what's this all about then?

Welcome one and all!

So what's this all about then?

Well, we've decided to do something a bit different with our lives - for a couple of years at least! We've been together for nearly 8 years now and in all that time we've worked in the same jobs in West Yorkshire. As much as we love our home and the people we have around us, we think it's time for a change.

We bought a small motorhome (a Trigano Tribute) in 2008 when we got married and have enjoyed a number of trips in it since, to the Lake District, Northumberland, Normandy, and the South West. But it's never been for long enough and we'd really like time to explore more of mainland Europe.

So, that's our aim - to spend at least a year exploring Europe in the van and enjoying a different pace of life altogether.

Travels start in July when we have a month travelling around France. When we return, the house will go on the market and as soon as it sells we'll be hitting the road for a year or two.

Joining us on our travels will be Charlie, our 4 year cocker spaniel. She's got her passport and her bags are packed. She's cute, but she's also the worlds biggest wimp. She's scared of pretty much everything, so she's not great guard dog material! A good hot water bottle though!

We've still got an awful lot to think about. Where are we going to go exactly? What are we going to do with the cat and all our things? What about work? We're only at the beginning but it will be an exciting few months as we make our plans.

We'll be using this site to let friends and family (and anyone else who gives a monkeys!) know where we are and what we're up to. We'll update it regularly when we're on the road and add photos, maps and more. It will also be a permanent reminder of our travels for us to look back on in the future.

We hope you enjoy it - let us know what you think.
